PULISIC, FOUR USA PLAYERS MAKES CUT

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic will lead four other USA (United States of America) players into the Champions League knockout stage this season after the group stage campaign was concluded on Thursday.

PULISIC MAKES RETURN FROM INJURY

United States of America (USA) international Christian Pulisic is back from injury to boost the attacking options at the disposal of Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The USA national team player made his return from injury during the Champions League clash with Swedish champions Malmo FF.


USA footballer Pulisic came on as a second half substitute for England international Callum Hudson-Odoi for his first Chelsea game in over two months.Hudson-Odoi spent 74 minutes on the pitch before he made way for Pulisic. At the point of his entry, Chelsea had scored through Moroccan international star Hakim Ziyech. USA SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT IN QUALIFIERS

The United States of America (USA) have surprisingly suffered a first loss in the qualifiers for next year’s FIFA World Cup tournament via the CONCACAF region after they were beaten by hosts Panama. The reigning Gold Cup champions were beaten 1-0 by the home side thanks to the second half strike from Anibal Godoy. Godoy scored the lone goal of the game minutes after the half-time interval thus inflicting the first defeat of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on the United States of America (USA).


USA had earlier gone to the top of the CONCACAF standings at the end of the fourth round of games. The Americans leapfrogged rivals Mexico at the summit thanks to the second half brace from Ricardo Pepi in the 2-0 home win over Jamaica. Pepi was able to take his tally to three goals in the third round stage of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers with his two goals against the Jamaicans thus making him the leading goalscorer amongst the players involved at the current stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the CONCACAF region. USA START QUALIFIERS ON DISAPPOINTING NOTE

The United States of America (USA) didn’t have the best of starts in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the Concacaf section after they were held to a goalless draw at El Salvador. The Gold Cup champions could not break down their opponents who had to go through the first and second rounds of qualifiers to get to the final round.

USA were drawn bye into the final round of the qualifiers alongside four others. The likes of Jamiaca, Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica were the other teams who started the qualifying campaign in the Concacaf region from the final round. Continue reading →

DEST REJECTS ARSENAL, BAYERN

Barcelona defender SerginoDest has turned down a move to two of the biggest clubs on the European football stage. This is according to the publication from ESPN which revealed thatthe USA (United States of America) national team star opted to stay with Catalan giants Barcelona rather than leave to sign for Premier League outfit Arsenal and Bavarian giants Bayern Munich.

Both Arsenal and Bayern Munich wanted to sign Dest amidst the much publicised financial crisis at the Nou Camp but the player is happy at the Spanish club and didn’t see any reason to leave having signed last summer.

MIDFIELDER ON SPURS RADAR

United States midfielder Weston McKenniehas been on the radar of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur since last summer according to the report from Italian publication Calciomercato. The USA international was linked with a move to Spurs at the start of last season while Jose Mourinho was still at the club. Mourinho was dismissed from the position in April after the league season fell apart under his watch.

Since sacking Mourinho as their manager, Tottenham Hotspur have not been able to name a replacement for him. Former midfielder Ryan Mason held the position on an interim basis until last season and he led the club to seventh position in the league and a place in the newly formed European Conference League. Also, Mason led the club to the Carabao Cup final defeat to Premier League champions.

PULISIC LINKED WITH DORTMUND RETURN – REPORT

Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic has been linked with a return to German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund according to the latest reports in the British media. The USA (United States of America) player could leave Chelsea in exchange for Dortmund striker ErlingHaalandas per the specific report from English publication Daily Express.

PULISIC IMPRESSES IN CHELSEA WIN

United States of America (USA) player Christian Pulisic impressed off the bench for Chelsea in the Champions League win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night. The USA forward came off the bench to provide the assist for the clinching second goal.

Pulisicwas introduced into the game in the second half for German player Timo Werner and he went on to provide the second goal for England international Mason Mount. Chelsea had taken the lead in the first half through the aforementioned Werner who was in the right place and at the right time to score the rebound from a KaiHavertz shot that hit the crossbar.

According to reports that are already making the rounds and going viral, Major League Soccer giants Orlando City SC have moved an inch closer in their attempt to secure the services of defensive star Henrique. The reports claim that Orlando are now closer than ever and are finalizing negotiations with the player’s club Vasco da Gama for the transfer to take place.

DEST IMPRESSES IN BARCELONA WIN

United States of America (USA) defender Sergino Dest was impressive for Barcelona in the win over Sevilla at the weekend. The USA international right-back played well in the La Liga victory over Sevilla in what was a redemption for the player after his recent showing in the Champions League game with French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG). SerginoDest returned from injury for the first leg of the last 16 tie with the French champions but the USA defender was not at his best as he was bamboozled by the KylianMbappe-led PSG attack. PSG thrashed Barcelona 4-1 away from home to take a dominant lead in the tie. The second leg at the Parc des Princes will take place later this month.
