United States of America (USA) player Christian Pulisic impressed off the bench for Chelsea in the Champions League win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night. The USA forward came off the bench to provide the assist for the clinching second goal.
USA attacker Pulisic had a hand in the second goal that made it 2-0 for hosts Chelsea at the expense of Real Madrid. The result ensured that Chelsea made it to their third Champions League final via a 3-1 aggregate win.
The Blues could have finished the tie off in the first leg against the Spaniards in Madrid if they had been more clinical in front of goal. Chelsea could have scored more than the one goal from USA international Pulisic in the first quarter of the first leg. Pulisic gave Chelsea the advantage on 15 minutes before Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema cancelled out that advantage on 29 minutes as the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw. The away goalmeant that Chelsea would have gone through to the Champions League final with a goalless draw at home in the second leg.
Chelsea produced more than the minimum requirement of goalless draw with the goals from Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic. The Blues will now face Premier League rivals Manchester City in the final of the competition in Istanbul at the end of the month. It would be the second all-English Champions League final in three seasons.
