United States of America (USA) defender Sergino Dest was impressive for Barcelona in the win over Sevilla at the weekend. The USA international right-back played well in the La Liga victory over Sevilla in what was a redemption for the player after his recent showing in the Champions League game with French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG). SerginoDest returned from injury for the first leg of the last 16 tie with the French champions but the USA defender was not at his best as he was bamboozled by the KylianMbappe-led PSG attack. PSG thrashed Barcelona 4-1 away from home to take a dominant lead in the tie. The second leg at the Parc des Princes will take place later this month.
USA national team player Dest could have scored for Barcelona in the away game against Sevilla as he hit the post in the second half. Barcelona took the lead through Ousmane Dembele in the first half. The Frenchman scored for Barcelona off the assist from club skipper Lionel Messi. Messi would go on to wrap up the game for Barcelona in the final minutes of the game. The win for Barcelona took the Catalans to within two points of league leaders Atletico Madrid, who have played less game than Barcelona. The Catalan giants leapfrogged arch rivals Real Madrid into second place on the league standings with the win over Sevilla. Barcelona are now five points off Atletico Madrid having played a game more as a result of the 2-0 win recorded by Atletico Madrid at Villarreal. Alfonso put through to his own net towards the half hour mark to give Atletico Madrid the lead before Joao Felix added a second goal in the second half to wrap up the victory for his team and end the recent run of three games without a win in all competitions since the 2-1 win at Granada last month.
