PULISIC DESPERATE FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION

 

USA international Christian Pulisic is determined to make his World Cup debut at the next edition in Qatar in two years time especially after he missed out on the last edition in Russia. Christian Pulisic was the leading marksman for USA as they failed to qualify for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Chelsea player us determined not to repeat the same mistake ahead of the 2022 edition billed to start in Qatar as from November 21, 2022.


Christian Pulisictalked about his desire to seal qualification for the World Cup tournament in Qatar alongside the USA in a chat with USA Today Sports. The Blues forward said that he has not forgotten about the disappointment of not qualifying for the last edition in Russia and that he’s determined to make up for lost time starting with the qualifiers. The United States of America (USA) won’t enter into the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the CONCACAF zone until the final round.

The CONCACAF qualifiers are at the first round stage where there are 30 teams divided into six groups of five teams each. The six group winners would advance to the second round where they would be involved in a playoff to produce three teams to join the teams drawn bye like the USA in the third and final round. In the second round, Group F winners will face Group A winners in a two-legged tie, while winners of Group E and Group B will also face each other in a two-legged tie. Group D winners and Group C winners will face each other as well.

The three teams from the second round will join the USA, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Honduras in a group. The top three teams will qualify for the World Cup tournament in Qatar, while the fourth team will qualify for the inter-confederation playoffs.
