Wenger is certain that this is his best Arsenal team since 2004

The last time that Arsenal won the Premier League title was during the 2003-04 season and they managed to do this in a superb form as Arsene Wenger pushed his team to an undefeated season. Arsenal didn’t lose a single match of that season and after such an impressive accomplishment, the team was nicknamed as: ‘’The Invincibles’’.

There is no doubt whatsoever that this Arsenal team was the best one that the club has ever had in their history as it had superstar players including: Lehmann, Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Viera, Gilberto and even the lesser known players managed to stand out in this season.

Arsenal enjoyed the time of their lives in this season but things began to fall apart after the 2003-04 was over and the Premier League club has failed to lift the league title or any other really big piece of silverware. It’s been over 10 years since Arsenal has won the Premier League title but Arsene Wenger believes that this drought will be reaching it’s end soon as the French manager is certain about having his best team since 2004.

Arsene Wenger voiced his confidence in the team that’s under his control as he said: “I believe we have the squad now to compete for the title. I am very happy with the squad I have, but we always look to strengthen. If that turns up, we will always look to strengthen. Chelsea won it by a margin last year, so they are the favorites. After that, let’s see how it goes. After the first 15 games, we will know more.”

The veteran manager is certain that he has a squad which is good enough to compete and make a genuine charge for the Premier League title but their start of the season has been a fairly underwhelming one as Arsenal lost their opening match of the season after losing against West Ham United. Jurgen Klinsmann says that these kind of results

The USA achieved some spectacular results during their recent trip to Europe and one of them came in the 2-1 win over Germany.

This came just days after beating Netherlands 4-3 in a highly thrilling encounter. Manager Jurgen Klinsmann says that these kind of results will give the national team a lot of confidence going into the big matches in big tournaments. The United States almost came close to reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2014 before being knocked out by Belgium. It was seen as one of the finest performances from the team on a major stage.

Klinsmann has revolutionised the way the national team has been playing. They are now more capable of taking the big guns head on. Further, the former Bayern Munich star has also introduced a number of new names into the national team. They are seen as the future replacement for the likes of Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey. Both these players have been extremely influential at the international scene for USA, but they are fast approaching the end of their international careers. One name to make an impression in the recent friendlies was striker Bobby Wood. The 22-year-old scored the winner against Germany. Continue reading →

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that Jurgen Klinsmann could have remained in the Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says that US national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann could have remained in the Bayern Munich role for much longer had it not been for one little mistake by all parties involved.

The German has been attracting a lot of good press in the last six months for the excellent work that he has done with the US national team. Regarded as one of the minnows a few years ago, the US almost reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup after an excellent 2014 edition. This follows up with the success that the team has had in major international tournaments like the Confederations Cup.

Klinsmann still remains known for his excellent work with Germany in the 2006 World Cup. Even though the team did not win the title, it was seen as the resurgence of a once dominant force. Since then, Germany have never looked back and this culminated in the 2014 World Cup title.Rummenigge accepted that Klinsmann remains an excellent coach, but in hindsight he says that Bayern Munich should have appointed someone with experience about German football to guide the then-young Klinsmann at Bayern. Instead, Klinsmann opted for Mexican Martin Vasquez as his right-hand man. Continue reading →

Wright Phillips is the Major League Scorer

Shaun Wright Phillips’ brother Bradley Wright Phillips has ended the 2014 Major League Soccer as the top scorer with 27 successful hits to the net for New York Red Bulls. It was by far his most successful season in club football.

The forward has played in England for many clubs and has scored goals for them too, but, he has never been this fluent. Of course, there is a difference in the standard of football in America and England, but, still, those who know the game would say that Bradley played his best football throughout this year.

He was all over the place last summer. He was released by Charlton Athletic and not even the Championship clubs were showing that much of interest in him. He spent the first half of the 2013-14 Season as a free agent.

How terrible that would have been for a guy who not only belongs to a great Football family with his father being a legend in England, but, has also learnt the game at the academy of a club like Manchester City.

But, then, at the start of 2014, the offer came from USA and Bradley took it straightaway and he has seen brilliant turnaround in his career since then.

It’s not only about scoring goals, the thing about Bradley is that he has looked a real threat for the opposition in all the games in MLS and it has led to some people talking about the possibilities of him getting an England call up.

Roy Hodgson has not talked about him at all though in his recent interviews. The England manager has not even travelled to America to watch any of the Red Bulls’ game. So, it’s clear that he is not putting too much attention towards Bradley, but, should he do that? Does Bradley have anything special to offer to England?
