Landon Donovan has been one of the high-profile names in the United States football over the last decade, and his decision to slowly withdraw from football at all levels has been met with a surprise throughout all quarters of the game. He is extremely important for the United States national team, and it is not a surprise to know that the manager Jurgen Klinsmann is prepared to talk with the player. The former German international has said that he will be conducting talks with Landon Donovan over the next few weeks in order to determine his problems and help him over the course of the next year.
The LA Galaxy star recently revealed that he is not sure whether he will be playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He has said that he has played a lot of football over the last few years and just is looking for a break away from the game in order to recharge his batteries. He has already ruled out a possible deal for returning to Everton on a loan deal for about two months in the January transfer window. Donovan has also said that the substantial injury problems he has suffered with the national team has also helped him identify his role within the team.
“I find it really courageous of him to talk openly about what’s going through his mind. He’s always in our plans, absolutely. It’s really down to him, himself, what he wants to further achieve in his career, what he wants to do. Whatever he decides to do will be very respected by us. When one player is not there, there is a chance for another player to step in and make a case for a spot. We’ll all be curious to see how it continues,” said Klinsmann.
